Here's Proof That
Weight Loss Exercise is Not Difficult
Have you ever felt tired and stressed out from work only to find, when you get home, your children running towards you asking you to play basketball with them? You refuse but promise them that you will - after you take a short rest. However, both you and they know this won't happen because once you go inside that'll be it for the night.
Start saying "Yes"
So, instead of disappointing your children, why not say, "yes"? You will be surprised by the amount of energy you will have after that 30-minute activity. Also, you'll be giving your kids that "quality time" they all crave. A double bonus!!
Did you know that by exercising at a moderate pace for only 30 minutes, you would feel a whole lot better not only physically but mentally as well? It has been proven that this also improves the appetite and sharpens problem solving skills. Interesting huh? Not only that. You will also feel that it is much easier to sleep at night if you do moderate exercises every day - even if for only 30 minutes.
It's Really Good For You
What are the other benefits of regular exercise? Well, it promotes self-discipline and has a positive impact on how you perceive life. Exercise helps in lifting your spirits and getting you out of any depression. And then there's the wonderful by-product of helping you to maintain a healthy weight.
If you are a first timer, limit yourself to 15 minutes for 2 to 3 days a week to start with. You can then increase the time you spend exercising once your body gets over the initial shock. This will occur in no time at all and you may even find you actually look forward to keeping active. Some people have even reported that they feel guilty if they don't do their daily exercises.
The Key is to Take It Slow
Don't ever force your body though! And, if you get hurt, stop till you recover. You can take a break from exercising for a few days and then start again - but, depending on how much time you took off, you may need to begin again from day 1. Just be sensible here. You'll notice the effect just a few days off has on your ability to maintain your previous exercise levels. Many people make the big mistake of trying to pick up from where they left off only to find it's too difficult to do this or, worse, they injure themselves (perhaps again) because they tried to do too much too soon.
Here are some moderate exercises you can do and enjoy:
- Do the Walking
Make use of your surroundings. You can walk your dog, with your partner or child. Encourage your family to go walking daily and you will find yourself burning calories while enjoying the surroundings and getting enough sunlight that is also good for your body.
- Discover the wonders of Yoga
Yoga is one effective form of exercise that energizes not only your body but also your soul. You may want to learn the basic yoga positions that are not too complicated but are proven to be effective. A five-minute yoga exercise routine can perk you up and recharge your body with the energy you lost for the whole day. You relax and at the same time you stretch!
- Engage yourself into sports
Play basketball, football, baseball, tennis, netball, volleyball, badminton or any of the countless other team sports that abound in our society today. Many doctors have recommended sports as an effective way to stay fit and healthy. Sports can also be done in moderation. Do not take it too seriously though as this can rob it of the "fun" factor. Shooting hoops with a friend is one moderate exercise that is also considered a sport.
- Join (or start) exercise programs at work
If you still do not have exercises programs at work, then why not start them? You can talk to your boss about it and start with your colleagues. You may find there are plenty of co-workers who have been just dying to do something like this but didn't know how to go about getting it all happening. By doing this, you will not only lose calories, you will also discover it is a great way to bond with your work mates. Such a program can be done for 30 minutes either before work or during the lunch break, 3 times a week.
- Exercise while doing household chores
Gardening, raking leaves, lawn mowing, doing the laundry, vacuuming, dusting, painting and car washing are all effective moderate exercises that can be done at home. Make use of these chores to sweat and burn calories. Instead of using machines or gadgets or even hiring someone else to perform these chores, why not do it with your own hands and lose some of that excess fat at the same time?
It All Adds Up & Quickly Too
Just how many calories you will burn up by making exercise a part of your daily routine will surprise you. Doing these simple, moderate exercises every day can easily burn anywhere from 150 calories up to 1,000 calories per day! Make this a habit and part of your daily routine and you'll find your life will take a dramatic turn - for the better!
