You probably know that you should be drinking eight glasses of water a day.  But, while you may have heard about the benefits of drinking large amounts of water daily, do you actually drink that many glasses a day?  My guess is, probably not - which is strange given that I'm sure you know the good effects it can have on you and your body.

Drinking lots of water helps to flush your system of toxins and keep you hydrated.  It also keeps the body constantly 'working' - which is essential if you are to shed those extra pounds.  A daily dose (or two) of oxygenated water could also prove beneficial to your overall health and well-being.

Tip 2 - Up Your Protein
The next adjustment you must make is on your daily diet.

You've probably heard about the importance of your protein-intake level.  However, what you probably didn't know is that you should be getting protein into your system every three to four hours.  Drink a protein shake or eat a small quantity of protein several times a day.

Switching from a diet filled with carbohydrates to one filled with protein is a must.  This means cutting back on breads, chips, biscuits, rice and pastas and focusing on nuts, egg whites, skinless chicken, fish and turkey breast.

The types of foods you eat have a significant impact on your body and your overall weight.

Tip 3 - Fats That are Good for You
There are certain fats that are good and you don't want to drop these 'good' fats too much.

Supplementing yourself with Omega 3 fatty acids, flax seed oil and nuts can help with this.  Never fear using olive oil in your cooking either.

Always remember: saturated and trans fats are the 'bad fats' - so stay away from these as much as possible.  And. of course, it goes without saying that 'Fast Foods' (of any kind) along with many highly processed foods are a no-no due to their usually high level of saturated or trans fats.

Tip 4 - When to Eat
Another very important quick weight loss tip you should be aware of is the way you eat throughout the day.

Instead of stuffing your face a few times a day, break your food-intake down to several small meals.  Eating small, frequent meals will help keep your metabolism burning on high.  You should be eating small meals every three hours each day to maintain a healthy metabolism.

This is such an easy thing to do but so few people do it.  Apply the 'graze all day' approach - but just make sure you don't graze on biscuits or chocolate or ice cream or candy.  Make certain it's wholesome, healthy snacks like fruit and nuts.

Tip 5 - A Little Exercise Goes a Long Way
Lastly, put together a regular workout schedule for you to follow.

Whether it's riding a bike three times a week or taking a light jog a few times a week or even just going for a long walk everyday, it's vital you're consistent with your efforts.  You'll be amazed at the results you'll see from a 30-minute workout three to four times a week.  Just make sure you stick to your routine and those extra pounds will melt away.
